Making Parachutes

Today we set the children the task of making a parachute armed only with a plastic bag and two pieces of wool. The results were amazing and it generated lots of talk about the forces of flight.

Some children explored how the plastic bag moved through the air before designing their parachutes.

These boys even found a way to use their beloved Pokemon cards. Super thinking!

Hands on Maths

We have just started using some great new maths equipment called Numicon. It helps children to further develop their understanding of how numbers work. The children instantly saw the patterns and decided the ten piece was probably the most important.

Maths Problem Solving

We LOVE working together to solve Maths problems. Each group often approach problems in different ways.

Poor Will....

Our classmate came in to see us after his visit to hospital...well two hospitals as he informed us. We loved question and answer time with you. We hope that you feel better soon.

Free Writing in Kauri

Every Friday in Kauri the children have an opportunity to write on any topic in a genre of their choice. The children are always really creative writing comic strips, narratives and beautiful poetry.

This is a great opportunity for the children to independently try out some of the writing features we have been teaching or time to write about something they are passionate about.
